I’m currently listening to: Jimmy Eat World - Clarity - Goodbye Sky Harbor

I am an obsessive person. Not in a creepy way (at least I hope not), but its true. For example, when I get hooked on something– whether it be a band, tv show, sports team, etc– I suddenly feel the urge to know everything about this new interest. For example, my sister and I watched the entire second season of The Office this last weekend. I then proceeded to download all of the episodes from season three that I had missed. There were only eight, so it wasn’t too difficult, but I have already watched all of them. I can also tell you a number of random trivia facts, like writer/star BJ Novak (who plays Ryan) graduated from Harvard and the actor who plays Jim graduated as an honored playwright from Brown University. At first I thought it was a bit strange that I research my interests so intently.
However, I guess I’ve always done this. When I was a child, I remember that my mom used to brag about how I could read well because I was able to pronounce all of the names of my favorite baseball stars, or that I learned math so that I could better understand the statistics on the back of baseball cards. I was reminded more recently of this oddity when my sister asked for the story behind a new cd I had brought home, simply because she knew I had already been online reading up on the history behind the artist. Its pretty strange, I’ll admit it, but it is just one of the many quirks that makes me who I am.
As my sister always says, “I do what I want; I say as I please.” (We’re unsure if anyone else in the world really adds the even cheesier second line to this phrase).

#1. That phrase is too cool for anyone else to say.
#2. Let me name a few other obsessive phases you went through: Lost, Braveheart, The Godfather, computer gaming, downloading movies (you once said, “It’s like pokemon, you gotta catch ‘em all” about illegally downloaded movies), fishing, etc.
#3. I like that you are obsessive. It makes you a resource of useful (and not so useful) information.
I thought of some of those obsessions (gaming, Braveheart, Godfather, etc) but decided to leave them out in an attempt to save face.
#1. “I say as I please” is not an acceptable end to the phrase “I do what I want.”
#2. Your pokemon quote just came back to me, and that’s hilarious. I remember all of those shady quirks.
#3. Your obsessive nature means that I can ask you random questions about bands and you can speak authoritatively on anything about the band. Favorite color of the drummer? Previous love interests of the bassist? You probably know it.
