DVD Commentaries

I’m currently listening to: Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Me and Mia

Pan's Labyrinth

My newest media obsession (the list keeps getting longer) is the DVD commentary. I recently watched the commentaries for both Pan’s Labyrinth and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Both of these movies are exceptional, and while both commentaries were interesting, I must admit that Guillermo del Toro stole the show with his commentary. From the use of color to the pattern of scenes, his entire thought process was fascinating. Since I basically have three weekends in a row (last weekend, this two day break during the week, and then next weekend), I predict that a good portion of this time will be spent watching movies/commentaries.

I hope you all have wonderful holidays, I wish it was going to be dry enough to go watch fireworks.

PL sucked, the lil girl died at the end and you know she wasn’t a real princess. She freakin died. Yeah, she went to a better place… but it wasn’t to become some princess… SHE DIED… i am still bitter about the whole thing. And eternal sunshine of the spotless mind in my opinion was good for the end….. BRAVO… what an ending. Although the lil kids scenes were interesting, it would be fulfilling to know why add those in there…. Interesting….. But commentary sucks in movies…. and thats only because the donny darko commentary was utterly useless and that made me sad because the movie was just a bunch of rambled up… garbage… and it tricked me into thinking it made sense….. I think i am just a bitter movie watcher.

Haha thats what you get for trusting that Donnie Darko could actually be explained.

Also, about Pan’s Labyrinth. That was the whole point. She wasn’t a princess, and her life definitely wasn’t good at all. However, she learned that you can’t do much about circumstances you can’t control. She also learned that she shouldn’t sacrifice her beliefs and values no matter what authority figure told her it was the right thing to do. Also, there is no way you can deny that the character development of PL was phenomenal.

Pan’s Labyrinth was asdlfkjasdlfkjafincredible. Don’t act like it wasn’t, Andy. It was.

You haven’t written in over a month, John. What are you doing with your life?
