Busy Week

Tomorrow I head back to the STL for a NoCo Christmas!! I was planning on entering the party wearing a wife-beater, while eating a taquito but I don’t have a wife-beater… so it probably won’t happen.

New RSS Aggregator

I’ve finally gotten sick of using NewsGator, so I think I’m going to hunker down and write my own RSS aggregator. I want to integrate all of my Twitter, Tumblr, Wordpress, Blogger, and News feeds into a site I can manage on my own. Plus, I kind of miss PHP and want a chance to use the Zend Framework again. I’m a nerd.

Worst Part of College

Without a doubt, the worst part of college occurred on days when it would rain, and frequent trips to and from class resulted in the bottom two inches of your jeans being soaked for the entire day. There was nothing worse.

Heading Home

I plan to leave here no later than 4:30 and be home between 8 and 9.

When Panda’s Attack

“Pandas, which generally have a public image as cute, gentle creatures, are nonetheless wild animals that can be violent when provoked or startled.

Last year, a panda at the Beijing Zoo attacked a teenager, ripping chunks out of his legs, when he jumped a barrier while the bear was being fed.

The same panda was in the news in 2006 when he bit a drunk tourist who broke into his enclosure and tried to hug him while he was asleep. The tourist retaliated by biting the bear in the back.”

I love CNN puff pieces.

House Cleaning

I’ve come to realize that cleaning your house– on your own terms– is a quality activity for reducing the day-to-day stress level in a person’s life. Seriously, who likes to live in a cluttered house? Does this mean I’m a neat freak? Probably not. Does it mean I just spent the half hour straightening my house before I did anything else on a Saturday? Mom would be proud.

Next step, clean my car?

The Get Up Kids Reunion

At a recent concert in Chicago, keyboardist James Dewees confirmed The Get Up Kids will be reuniting to play a tour this Spring. I for one am stoked. The Get Up Kids were pretty much the defining band of my high school years. Getting to hear them in Lawrence? Even better.

The Greatest Songs of the 90’s

Greatest songs of the 90s:

  1. Smells Like Teen Spirit
  2. Wonderwall
  3. ??

Seriously, those two songs rank so high above every other song I can think of. I need your input.

Royals Game

You know you and your friends are lame when you get rejected by the Kansas City Royals. Since when did they sell out?

I’m really getting sick of throwing back these shots of DayQuil…

Death Cab and Smashing Pumpkins As Sermon Illustrations

I love that Kevin uses The Usual Suspects, “A Lack of Color” (Death Cab) and “Bullets with Butterfly Wings” (Smashing Pumpkins) as illustrations in his latest sermon.

Friday Night Lights

The first episode of Friday Night Lights is challenged only by the first five or six episodes of LOST as the greatest television episode of all time. It’s football season.

Response to C.S. Lewis Quote

When I was a kid, I knew C.S. Lewis as a writer of overly-simplistic childhood stories. I could not have been more wrong.
